About Troy

A 2012 TAMMY Award Winner for Best Bassist, Troy James Martin grew up in the small town of Sierra Vista, Arizona, which had few bassists, so he was always musically in demand. He moved to Tucson immediately after high school and earned a bachelor’s degree in Radio/Television at the University of Arizona. Troy entered the Tucson music scene briefly in the 1980s, then full-time from 2006 to the present.

His bass heroes include Sir Paul, The Ox, Dee Murray, Peter Cetera, Chris Squire, Mike Rutherford, John Wetton and Tony Levin. Troy has been a broadcaster, actor, graphic designer, photographer and choir director. He has played with LeeAnne Savage, the Strait Country Band, Eric Schaffer & The Other Troublemakers, Swingset, The Tangelos, The Blue Music, Episodes, Crystal Stark, The Tucson Pops Orchestra, Smallvox, The Minstrel’s Ghost, and the legendary country-metal band Gila Bend. He is currently bassist/vocalist for Max Parallax and Little House of Funk. Troy has recorded with Max Parallax (“No Time For Caution”), Big Grin, Eric Schaffer & The Other Troublemakers (“Crazy Road Trip”), Connie Brannock (“Lady On The Bus”), The Minstrel’s Ghost (“The Road To Avalon,” “Jack: A Different Tale”), Smallvox, The Tangelos, Todd Cutter, and Greg Loumeau.
